Note :  After reaching six weeks of age, females were exposed to adult C57BL/6 male soiled bedding once per week to stimulate the natural reproductive cycle. To assess the reproductive state of naturally cycling female mice, vaginal cytology samples were collected every morning for at least one entire cycle. Experiments were performed when females were in proestrus/estrus (sexually receptive).
