Note :  The salt induction was intended to up-regulate the hypothalamic osmotic-sensitive magnocellular AVP systems. Four hours before the perfusion, the rat received an i.p. 900 mM hypertonic saline injection. The rat was restrained from drinking water for the first 2 h and then they were allowed to drink ad libitum. Each observed AVP positive fiber every other slice was traced.
